Three people have been arrested after a 23-year-old man was shot in Birmingham following disorder at an events venue in the Digbeth area. West Midlands Police said officers were called shortly before 23:20 BST on Sunday after reports that a firearm had been discharged near the corner of Hack Street and Bromley Street, close to Luna Springs on Lower Trinity Street.
The 23-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and was taken to hospital for treatment. Police said he remains under arrest in hospital on suspicion of violent disorder. Two other men, aged 20 and 30, have also been arrested in connection with the incident. Both are being held on suspicion of violent disorder, while the 30-year-old man is additionally suspected of possessing a knife. Detective Inspector Stacey Follows, from the West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit, said investigators believe the disorder began inside the events venue before moving outside onto the surrounding streets, where the shooting took place.
Police remain at the scene as officers work to establish exactly what happened. Investigators are gathering evidence, reviewing CCTV recordings, and speaking with people who may have witnessed the incident.
