An unidentified pedestrian tragically lost their life following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, in the early hours of August 21, 2026.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. near mile marker 31. Authorities reported that the individual had initially been involved in a separate crash in the area. After exiting their vehicle, the pedestrian was struck in the roadway by an eastbound Toyota sedan.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the location. Officials have not yet released the identity of the individual pending notification of next of kin.
The crash involved multiple vehicles, including a tour bus belonging to the American rock band Buckcherry. The band later confirmed in a public statement that their bus was part of the incident but emphasized that all members of the band and their touring crew were safe and unharmed.
“Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality,” the band shared. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life.”
The band was traveling as part of its nationwide “Roar Like Thunder” tour at the time of the incident and continued with scheduled performances in Florida following the accident.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
